About us

Vision & goal

Our vision is an unlimited access to the grid

At Utiligize, our vision is ‘unlimited access to the grid’ meaning that we facilitate inclusive and sustainable energy access for all. We are committed to empowering utilities with innovative B2B SaaS solutions that transcend traditional boundaries, solutions that give both a visual and practical overview of the grid – past, present and future.

Our diverse team consists of skilled software developers and electrical engineers; professionals with expertise inside the energy sector and other business areas. Together, we passionately collaborate to drive the green transition and contribute to a sustainable energy future, that go beyond efficient power network management which enables our clients to make informed and optimized netinvestments and ultimately the realization of a sustainable energy landscape.

We understand that achieving a greener future requires a multifaceted approach. Our B2B SaaS solutions optimize not only investments but also maintenance and inspections in power networks. This helps improve data quality and utilize vast amount of untapped data from smart meters and GIS registers, facilitating the green transition. By providing insightful analytics into current and future grid loads, our technology aids electric utility companies in making informed decisions that align with environmental goals.

Meet our founders

Utiligize, founded in June 2018 by Kalle Hansen and Emil Larsen, stems from their shared experience at the Danish Energy Association, now Green Power Denmark. Kalle, holding a Master of Science (MSc) in Environmental Economics from the University of Copenhagen, and Emil, with a PhD in Electrical Engineering from DTU, observed that many utilities still relied on outdated methods like rule-of-thumb strategies and Excel spreadsheets for planning investments and maintenance.

Recognizing the critical role of Distribution System Operators (DSOs) in the green transition, Kalle and Emil understood that for the transition to succeed, DSOs must incorporate expectations for future demand for load and electricity. Motivated to introduce a more intelligent and efficient approach to this domain, they conceived Utiligize—a robust software service solution designed to streamline and automate asset management. Utiligize facilitates utilities in pinpointing issues, prioritizing tasks, and allocating resources by generating simulations and scenarios of the grid’s future load. This innovative tool enables utilities to identify heavily loaded components and assets, empowering them to proactively plan and manage the increasing demand on the electrical grid.
